smirkstudios's News

Posted by smirkstudios - December 19th, 2009

Dear Smirk Studios Fans,

As you may know, I have been working hard on SOMETHING. Time to show you NG peeps wtf I'm doing!

I have a new cartoon idea that is testing my every skill to the fullest. I've uploaded six new sketchbook pics to my MS gallery that will show you how much this project has toned my abilities. More to the point, I have a blog that you should look at, as it has screen caps and information on the production of this cartoon I'm working with.

As this project goes on (like you know projects do), it becomes clear to me that this short represents the begining of what I hope will grow into something bigger. My first ever try at writing some serious stuff here, and once I can stand back and look at it, the second time will be tighter and more fun (and maybe easier). I'm no Doc Hammer, but it is time to stop comparing and start running with this. Dangerous, but keep an eye on me. I'm known to pull a surprise or two out of my hat.

Keep the other eye on my Twitter/Facebook/Myspace to know what I'm uploading and where, because it could be epic. Living for what I love, baby!

PATENT PENDING

Posted by smirkstudios - September 4th, 2009

Dear Smirk Studios and Sketched Fans,

So much is happening so quick, I think I'm slowly EXPLODING! Blossoming into quite the innovative artist, I am learning so much and so quick, inspiring a new team member recruit to be announced officially later! Toon back in to hear more about Smirk Studios's new writing partner!

For now, I submit to you some additional animation and character ideas for this new episode of the Sketched cartoon series, featuring Matt Besser in this hilarious skit entitled "The Haunted Fax." Check it out, and please vote and review, we could always use your help earning our respect!

SO many surprises are to come your way, lots of real neat stuff in the works, as usual! You better get used to me putting out quality work regularly, and you might expect that I will get faster and better as I practice! I love working for Jeff, but this stuff I'm talking about is (unfortunately for you, the audience) not written by him OR his brilliant crew. It's time I make use of these new skills that he has inspired me to gain, and now it's a matter of getting used to them and tightening the bolts of this monster I'm creating! Stick around, follow me on all my networks to stay fresh with the latest, and LEAVE ME FEEDBACK! Give me some pointers, if you're SOOO SMAART!!!

New Sketched Episode "Haunted Fax" Ready!

Posted by smirkstudios - August 18th, 2009

Dear Smirk Studios Fans,

The time is coming, and Jeff Short has the content that you've been waiting for! If you liked "Merry Sketchedmas" and "Super Bored," you'll love this next bit. I've teamed up with Jeff and the whole Sketched crew, and we've been working in secret for a couple months now on some new material that's gonna knock your socks off!!!

You may have seen the teaser, "The Prospector," that came out last month. That was just a little taste of the newer higher quality Sketched episodes that will be coming out! A relentless bombardment of quick and witty humor combined with some new characters and scenarios is coming your way, so keep it right here, guys!

As you know, you can follow me on my Twitter for frequent updates! Get RSS feeds on my Twitter to never miss a beat with whats happening on my Newgrounds, SmirkStudios.COM, Cartoons Happen Live Podcast, and everything else you need to know about Sketched and other projects! Don't have Twitter and not interested in getting one? I feel the same way about FaceBook, so I understand! Try my MySpace for another cool way to keep up with Smirk Studios!

Here is a screen cap from the upcoming Sketched release to keep you teased! The Haunted Fax will be coming out here on Newgrounds early next month, so stay on your toes!!!

Jeff Short's "Sketched" Cartoon Series

Dear Smirk Studios Fans,

It's about time I get back in order here on NG. I have strayed away a bit, what with all the Comic-Conning around, working with Jeff Short and the Sketched crew, and changing my website around. I come to tell you that MUCH WORK has been done, and I'm releasing all kinds of media on it. Free shirts for people who show up to Smirk Studios events!!! For San Diego Comic-Con 2009 photos taken by me, check my MySpace (which I guess I'm using now for the power of good, not evil) or PicasaWeb albums.

I will still never get a Facebook, for I have already gone too far.

Anyhow, more layout updates are in order for you, as well as new tablet art. The other links after "tablet" in the art section don't work yet, as I am going to break the menu in to smaller, more loadable pieces. These things take time!!! Who do you think I am, Tom Fulp?!??! (=|)

Jeff Short and EYE (plus some other guys) have much content to present to you in a scheduled fashion, and I'm pleased to announce that one of the upcoming Sketched episodes is fully animated by yours truly! Combined with Jeff and the gang's hilarious writing styles and my twisted and ever-improving artistic abilities, you can believe that it looks good, and I can't even SHOW you!!! How messed up is THAT?!?! Well sit tight and follow my Twitter, guys, or else you might miss some history here!!!

Sketched Series and such

Here's a list of just SOME people I sighted at Comic-Con:

Tom Fulp, Michael Swain (the-swain), Joshua Tomar (tomamoto), Nathan Kuruna, EgoRaptor, Doc Hammer (the Venture Brothers on Adult Swim), Kevin Eastman (Ninja Turtles/Heavy Metal Magazine), a black armor Storm Trooper, like 6 bounty hunters that look like Jango Fett, Sephiroth (Final Fantasy 7), Pikachu, a Castle Crasher, Gary Richardson (CEO of Mirage Studios), Chun Lee, Blanca, and so many more!!!

See all my photos at my PicasaWeb Comic-Con gallery!

I was there Thursday, July 23rd promoting SmirkStudios.com and Jeff Short's "Sketched" series by handing out 10 free tie dyed t-shirts to the people who knew their Newgrounds stuff!!! Did you go? Tell me about your trip, and lets swap photos and make a "Comc-Con 2009 Picture Collab!"

Here's a pic of The-Swain and Tomamoto holding up the shirts I gave them!!!

Dear Smirk Studios Fans,

Thanks for staying so patient! It will soon pay off, as I am in the last scene of the background work for Teen Pijinz! This is becoming very exciting now, and if you take a look at my latest animation, you'll see that I've learned plenty more about movement and construction! This is good news because Teen Pijinz will offer much more of these types of movements or "antics" as I call them.

Here is a screen shot, as promised! Can you figure out what will be happening in this frame?

Be sure to follow me on Twitter for frequent updates! Also, check out my birthday present from Jeff Short here on Newgrounds, and check out the full Jeff Short interview on my homepage!

ONE MORE NOTE!!! - Please help me get Tom and Wade Fulp on my live broadcast show by messaging them and asking them! Be polite, though, because I want them to feel welcome. Thanks everyone!!!
